1. Overview

This Cookie Policy explains how Find My Running Shoes (“we,” “us,” or “our”) uses cookies and similar tracking technologies on findmyrunningshoes.com (the “Site”). It should be read alongside our Privacy Policy, which explains more broadly how we collect and use your personal information.

We ask before we set any analytics or advertising cookie — simply using the Site is not treated as consent. See Section 2.

2. Your Consent

The first time you open the Site, a banner near the bottom of the screen asks whether you are happy for us to use analytics and advertising cookies. Until you answer, both are switched off and no analytics or advertising cookies are set. Nothing about the Site changes while the question is open.

• No thanks — no analytics or advertising cookies are ever set, and the Site, the shoe finder and your account all work exactly the same. Declining costs you nothing and takes the same single click as accepting.
• Allow — Google Analytics starts from that moment and sets the two cookies listed in Section 4, and our advertising partners (Section 4) are permitted to set theirs.

One answer covers both analytics and advertising cookies together — there is no separate toggle for ads. Either way we remember your answer so the banner does not follow you from page to page, and you can change it at any time in Section 6.

Signing in does not change any of this. Your answer belongs to the browser you gave it in, whether or not you are signed in, and we never give Google Analytics your name, email address, account, fit answers or measurements.

3. What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work, work more efficiently, and provide information to the site owner. Similar technologies include pixels, tags, and local storage, which we refer to collectively as “cookies” in this policy.

4. Types of Cookies We Use

Essential cookies

These cookies are necessary for the Site to function and cannot be switched off. They include cookies that keep you logged into your account, remember items in your session (such as fit-quiz progress), and support basic security. Because they are essential, they do not require your consent. Your answer to the analytics banner — just the word “granted” or “denied” — is kept the same way, in your browser’s local storage, and is never sent to us or anyone else.

Analytics cookies — only if you allow them

These cookies help us understand how visitors use the Site — which pages are popular, how long people stay, and where visitors come from — so we can improve content and the shoe-fit experience. We use Google Analytics 4 for this purpose, and only after you choose “Allow”. If you allow it, Google Analytics sets two cookies:

• _ga — tells one browser apart from another so a returning visit is not counted twice. Expires after 2 years.
• _ga_JH9TTEJ70F — keeps track of the current visit. Expires after 2 years.

Neither cookie contains your name, email or account, and we do not send Google Analytics anything that would link them to you. Until you allow analytics, Google Analytics may still receive basic, cookieless signals that a page was viewed, which cannot be tied to a returning browser.

Advertising cookies — only if you allow them

We run ads on Meta (Facebook and Instagram) and X. If you allow it, these platforms may set their own cookies on the Site to measure how our ads perform and to avoid showing you ads you have already seen. As with analytics, this only happens after you choose “Allow” on the banner — nothing loads before that. These cookies do not contain your name, email or account, and we do not send Meta or X your fit answers or measurements.

Affiliate tracking cookies

When you click a product link on the Site and make a purchase, these cookies allow our affiliate partners to attribute the sale to us so we can earn a commission, at no additional cost to you. We use Commission Junction (CJ Affiliate), the Amazon Associates Program, and Skimlinks for this purpose. See Section 5 for details and opt-out links.

Functional cookies

These cookies remember choices you've made (such as display preferences) to give you a more personalized experience. They are not strictly necessary but improve usability.

5. Third-Party Cookies

Some cookies on the Site are placed by third parties, not by us directly. We do not control these cookies, and we encourage you to review each provider's own policy.

• Google Analytics — measures Site traffic and usage, only if you choose “Allow” (Section 2). Governed by Google's Privacy Policy. Opt out via the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
• Google Search Console — monitors the Site's presence in Google Search; does not use cookies to track individual visitors.
• Meta (Facebook and Instagram) — measures the performance of our ad campaigns, only if you choose “Allow” (Section 2). Governed by Meta's Privacy Policy. Manage ad preferences via Meta's Ad Settings.
• X — measures the performance of our ad campaigns, only if you choose “Allow” (Section 2). Governed by X's Privacy Policy. Manage ad preferences via X's Ads Preferences.
• CJ Affiliate (Conversant LLC) — attributes purchases made through affiliate links. Governed by the CJ Publisher Service Agreement. CJ may engage in interest-based advertising; opt out via the Network Advertising Initiative.
• BrandCycle — generates our outbound affiliate links and, with its partner networks (Rakuten Advertising, Commission Junction), sets cookies to attribute purchases. See BrandCycle's privacy policy.
• Amazon Associates — attributes purchases made through our Amazon product links. As an Amazon Associate, we earn from qualifying purchases. See Amazon's Privacy Notice.
• Skimlinks — automatically monetizes outbound product links. Governed by Skimlinks' Terms of Service. Opt out via the Skimlinks opt-out page.

6. Changing Your Mind

Whatever you answered on the banner, you can change it here, at any time, and as often as you like. Turning analytics off also deletes the two Google Analytics cookies already in your browser — we do not simply stop adding to them.

You can also control or delete cookies in other ways, independent of anything we do:

• Browser settings: Most browsers let you block or delete cookies, or alert you when a cookie is set. Instructions vary by browser (Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge).
• Analytics opt-out everywhere: The Google Analytics Opt-out Add-on opts you out of Google Analytics on every site you visit, not just this one.
• Interest-based advertising opt-out: Use the Network Advertising Initiative opt-out tool for CJ, or the Skimlinks opt-out page.

Please note that blocking or deleting cookies — including essential cookies — may affect the functionality of the Site, such as staying logged in or completing the fit quiz.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the cookies we use or for legal or operational reasons. When we do, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. The analytics consent banner described in Section 2 was added on September 14, 2026, and extended to cover advertising cookies (Meta and X) on September 21, 2026.
